Knight Speaks Out
My name is Knight. My parents are Arthur and Becky of ‘King Arthur’s nights’ notoriety. Born in London, UK, in 1975, I am one of many ‘fruits’ of the Family and our controversial FFing practice. I am 29 years old.
I’ve lived in 10 countries throughout my life, and traveled to over 40. I speak some Russian, Spanish, English and pieces of other languages. I have six brothers and sisters who have also been raised in the Family. My two brothers are no longer members of the Family, but have moved on and have found their niche in secular life. I love them dearly, respect their decisions and wish them luck. They are my brothers in flesh and spirit and always will be! My parents, sisters and I remain in the Family. Two are in India, one is in the US and one in the Middle East. They are angels and saints working, living and toiling in their lives for the Lord on the mission field. Some have families of their own. I have the utmost respect and admiration for them.
My parents raised our gang on the road, after living and working closely with Dad and Maria for a couple years in the 70s. During and after the RNR, they served the Family in a ‘Visiting Shepherd’ capacity. During that time we traveled Europe for approximately three years, and then transferred to Peru for two years or so. We moved again to India where I lived for six years, then to Argentina for three years. I then moved to the US for three years, Russia for about one year and have been working behind the scenes since 1997. I’m currently working in an administrational Home as a Handyman. I have an awesome girlfriend. I couldn’t be happier or more fulfilled.
I want to testify that I have been privileged to have been raised in The Family, a charmed society of the likes that only exist in dreams, a Family where love is our message and law. Granted, our way of life is not suited to all, and I’ve experienced that with my own family firsthand. However, I’m sure my brothers and sisters can attest with me that we were never abused or suffered the abuse the Family is currently being accused of by some today. To the contrary, we were loved and cared for dearly. We were taught faithfully, both in the practical and the spiritual. Our extended family is enormous and we enjoy each other’s company, fellowship interaction and communication. Our affections and interactions are not biased against former members within my immediate family, at all.
However, it has been at the hand of a few vocal, hateful persecutors that my immediate family has experienced abuse. They and their ilk have been instrumental in the abuse of a host of innocent people including my mom, brother and sisters, through the lies they have told. Through the slander and efforts of a minority of Family ‘haters’, my mom and my brother and sisters were ripped out of bed in a pre-dawn raid and taken by authorities to an institution in Buenos Aires, Argentina. There, they were abused, probed, fondled and literally terrorized by teams of doctors, police and psychologists off and on for a period of about two months. The trauma they endured lasted months afterward, and disturbed them psychologically for years. That’s my personal family’s experience with abuse.
Those few who slander us vocally and in newspapers, incite the law to take action, which translates into abuses of all kinds, ten times worse and more horrific than they have ever accused us of. We will remain silent no more. If what they are saying and doing in the media today results in a repeat of what happened in Argentina, Australia, France and Spain, they will face a wall of opposition they could never imagine.
Be warned that we are no longer teenagers and inexperienced young people wearing billboards and shouting slogans in protest as we did in ’93, when trying to free our siblings from social services. Nor are they dealing with first generation missionaries struggling to get their kids back from institutions while surviving on foreign mission fields. That was for another century. The opposition that will stand and fight today people like me, their peers, adults of a second generation, witnesses and testaments to the inaccuracies and fallacies that they are propagating.
We are willing to use every viable legal means at our disposal, and as God allows us to employ, in order that we may be granted the freedom to practice and preach what we believe, unhindered from the gutter wash, bottom dwelling, scum-sucking filth that is dredged up by some people in today’s sick world.
To those who are so vocal and virulently hateful, I say this: You want to see the Family dissolve? You want to see us free from the life we now live? You want to see us cower in shame and running from your lies and threats? You want revenge for your pathetically altered version of history? Over our dead bodies!!
Our parents and the older generation gave their blood, sweat and tears to get and keep the Revolution for Jesus rolling, and they continue to do so, as is evidenced by Angela’s martyrdom. They are the ones who gave us our awesome heritage. But now it’s time for me and you and the rest of us from our generation who love all that is good and true, to stand up and let our voices be heard!
Compared to the 32,000 former members who have graced the Family and served the Lord along side us for a time, the teeny circle of prejudiced haters who foam at the mouth spewing their poppycock all over the world ad nauseam, are in the definite minority. Judging from those I have met and know personally, mainstream former members are Godly, law-abiding citizens, living good lives and working to secure a safe and happy environment for their families and loved ones. They truly have ‘moved on’, unlike the few we face now in the media, who gratify themselves by throwing mud and slop at the Family they once were part of.
I say to that vocal minority: Stop trying to impose your twisted version of “justice” on us and the rest of the world. Stop trying to travel some emotional time machine in order to fix everything wrong that happened in your past. Get on with your lives! Move on, as you claim to be doing, and let us live our lives as we believe we should.
To the thousands who were once with us and who have taken another path in life, but who can attest to our God-fearing upbringing and our idealistic lifestyle, please speak up and help us check the tide of lies and deceit that is rising. You are veterans of a crusade we have all fought together in spirit for some time, since the inception of the Children of God. Please testify of the good you experienced, and make your voices heard.
I had the honor and privilege of living and working with Angela Smith for a couple of years, and I was witness to the saintly life that she led. Never was there a more tender soul, a more concerned heart and such an unselfish love. At a memorial that we held for Angela in my Home, a friend of mine stated that this world didn’t deserve someone as special as Angela. That’s the honest truth! I pray that when I pass on from this world to the next, I will be remembered for even a fraction of the selfless love that she lived day and night.
Angela Smith was not the first martyr to give her life for the higher calling that we’ve dedicated our lives to—and we all know she will not be the last. Such is the price we must calculate for when we decide to swim upstream against the rising tide of anti-God humanism and the anti-religionist “modern” world of today. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church, and may it be the seed of our church too! This is our time to stand and be counted with the few and the brave, and I pray God for strength to so stand.
God knows that the events of the past weeks are what we as a Family need to keep us on the attack, fully convinced of the need for our important jobs, and committed to doing what we were created to do: sharing God’s love with all the world. Let’s continue to fulfill our destiny and fight against spiritual wickedness in high places with the truth and love of Jesus. May God help us to never look back! We may have changed and grown and learned from the mistakes of our past, but we are no less radical in spirit and determined in heart than we were thirty years ago.
Father David said that the second generation normally has it easy, that they’re usually spoiled and get everything handed to them on a silver platter. I pray that is never said of us! May we never forget our place and our heritage! May we hold our heads high with conviction, even if it’s before the hand of the executioner’s sword!
I know those who hate what we do probably won’t stop whining, so, ironically, I want to thank them for the effect of what they have done and continue to do in helping to make our convictions stronger, compelling us to preach our message with more fervor than ever before. A lot of the publicity they’re giving us might not look very good, but in the end, the Gospel is preached, and those who are looking for the truth will recognize it. Our detractors are like a type of Frankenstein. They’ve unwittingly created a monster of lies and deceit that will turn on them in the end.
I am unsettled as I write this. Knowing what is going on out on the front lines of this media war, as I restlessly read the news reports that come in, I want to do more. I want to face our opposition face-to-face. I’m not called to do that at this time, but through sharing my feelings here, I rest my case. I trust in a Higher power—the One Whose hand I hold, and Whose justice I rely on.
“If we are marked to die, we are enough
To do our country (Family) loss, and if to live
The fewer men, the greater share of (Godly) honor”
May God give us strength for whatever awaits us!
