To Those Who Hate
From Nat Woerter
Age: 21
Location: India
Have you ever been hated or discriminated against… Yeah, I HAVE…
No Eminem was definitely not the first person to speak those words.
I’m writing because like any other human on this earth I have emotions, feelings, conscious thought, and right now the thing that is running through my mind is WHY?
Why can’t people grow up and let me be with the choices that I have made, why can’t you stop living in the past? Why can’t you realize that wallowing in your own self pity and verbally shitting on everyone is not going to make things right?!?
My Name is Nat Woerter, I am 21 years old, all of those years were spent in the family.
I am the proud father of a beautiful baby girl and my wife is the most wonderful person I know.
When I heard the news, I was playing with my daughter; she has a way of making the longest, most tiring day seem right. One minute you’re there happy and carefree enjoying one of the greatest things in life, the next you’re staring at the floor, tears streaming down your face.
No I didn’t know him, growing up in the Family though you knew of him. No I didn’t know her either, but I still wept. You see the concept of violently taking someone’s life is very alien to me. In the Family all of my life I have been taught to love, to care for others and to do my best to love Jesus, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is something that I want my daughter to experience as well.
To be honest I get very upset when others begin to tear down my way of life. I believe in free will and I have CHOSEN to BELIEVE that the way I live is the BEST way to live, and I want my child to live in the caring, loving, supportive and happy environment that I did. I was privileged to be given an upbringing that allowed me to savor life to the full.
I have been able to partake of many different cultures, seen places all around the world, learn new languages, develop skills that have been useful and have helped me on numerous occasions. I have taken the gifts that I have been given and have used them to make a difference in the lives of others. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?
You talk about abuse, deprivation and misery? I’m telling you that you haven’t seen anything yet.
You want to complain? I dare you to come to India where I have spent the last four years of my life. Go ahead come on over if you can stomach it, go on! Go to any major city and watch the naked children on the streets begging for food and shelter, you look them in the eye and tell them that you have it worse than they do, go talk to someone who has just lost their family due to a giant wall of water washing them away, or to the mother of three whose husband is dead from AIDS. Go ahead, see if they care!
What I am trying to tell you is that you CAN get over your problems, stop being so selfish that you can’t see anything else than your own little world. YOU ARE NOT THE CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE!! BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO EVERYONE, it’s how you deal with it that makes you an overcomer or a wimpy loser who blames it all on others. Instead of wasting your life by trying to destroy mine, why not help someone with theirs? The power of love is an awesome thing.
I have done something with my life and when I look back, it will be with a sense of accomplishment that I have done something that will last, that will be remembered and will live on forever in the lives and hearts of those that I interacted with. What will others remember you as? Will you be remembered with respect like many of those who lived their lives for others, or will you join the ranks of those who are remembered not for the good, but for the pain and hurt they caused others? Nero, Hitler, Charles Manson and more come to mind, they are remembered now in the eternal “hall of shame.” Will you be there too?
I challenge you who are angry and bitter to do something positive with your lives, Our good works and the ways that we have helped millions of lives for the better is known the world over. What do you have to show for yours?
To those who don’t know what to believe and you are wondering if maybe what our detractors are saying are true, I would like to quote someone who was a master at manipulation, he said: if you want people to believe a lie, tell a really big lie, because no one would possibly imagine that you could be making it up—Adolf Hitler.
Please don’t allow yourself to be manipulated in their warped game.
To all of my friends who have left: Guys, I love you lots and I pray for each and every one of you on a regularly. If you are involved in any of this, please. … Just walk away. You’re so much better than this. I believe in you even if you feel others don’t.
