History repeats itself

My name is Connie Braaten and I am a second generation member of the Family International, although judging from your program I am quite sure, that you don’t care who I am or whether I was abused or not. In fact I doubt you care at all what I have to say. It’s not as exciting as me telling you that I was raised in a sex cult and now I’ve escaped. Pause… (Emotional music plays in the background)… Feel the moment. Here we go again. You’ve heard this all before from our side and we’ve heard these same old allegations before, frankly it’s getting a bit tiresome to hear the same old stuff recycled and then being passed off as some new thing. But I guess that’s the way it goes, history repeats itself.

It’s the full circle of life. It’s amazing how people are so quick to believe day-time sensationalizing tabloid talk shows, which make their money competing with other networks for ratings, by “getting” the most interesting, yet scandalous gruesome horrific tales of woe, whether they be truth or fiction, (as long as they involve sex) twisting them, and then trying to pass them off as fact. There is no point in debating this topic as I feel its all been said before, but please do remember that things are not always as they appear, and if your show was really interested in getting the truth, they would have dug a little deeper into these highly exaggerated stories that, while I’m sure made for excellent ratings, in reality don’t hold water. I’m not too bothered by this whole thing as this week it’s our lifestyle and beliefs that are being slandered, but by next week it could be yours, or Britney Spears, or the Pope for that matter, you never know these days.
